Once the run is in, the rest is what you set it to. Plain white most nights, holiday color when the calendar calls for it, and a schedule that runs it without you. Most owners settle on a single warm white, and save the color for occasions.
What drives the size of the job
Rooflines do not scale with house size. Linear feet is the obvious factor, but it is not the main one. Complexity does more: a simple gable runs fast, and a roof with six changes of direction, three dormers and a turret does not. Two stories changes the job.
Where it fastens
Homeowners assume the lights clip to the gutter, since that is how the temporary version goes up. A permanent channel is a different arrangement. Fastening to solid structure is what keeps the line straight for years.
